I’m doing some testing here…

I’ve found a new “application” that allow you to post blog entries to “any” blog platform you might be using… It’s called Qumana!

Here’s my scenario…

I’m a Mac user and preferred browser is Safari. I use WordPress.com as my blog platform. Safari and WordPress.com don’t necessarily like each other. WordPress.com has a built-in WYSIWYG editor that places buttons along the top of your eventual blog entry which allow you to apply bold, italics, etc. formatting to any/all of your text on the fly… with no need to add (learn) HTML tags. [EDIT] These buttons do not appear in Safari which can make blog entries a bit trying.

Back to the software… I’ve got to say, so far, overall, I like it… quite a bit. It’s a tiny little application that does the job fairly well. It’s still in its BETA stages so it might be a bit buggy for you: for example, double-clicking a word does not guarantee you’ll be able to select it first try… it tends to take me a few tries on a regular basis. Plus, triple-clicking does not select an entire line as you might expect it to.

Also, the Mac versions keyboard shortcuts are not very Mac-like at all… like having to press Command + Arrow to jump from word to word. Or, having to press Function + Arrow to jump to the end of a line (Function? [I use an Apple PowerBook which gives me this lovely extra key that most other Mac users might not have… but still, Function?]).

All that aside and long story short (still a BETA remember), Qumana is an excellent little application with great potential. I will probably use this on a regular basis because, even though it’s buggy, it has been saving me pockets of time by not having to remember any HTML coding.

Check it out Qumana.com.
(By the way, I just made that link in mere seconds. I know, I know… not that big of a deal… unless you prefer Safari as much as I do but need you WYSIWYG).

Oh, and did I mention… It’s free.

  1. Great feedback .. yes, it’s still in beta, and we have a list of prioritised improvements that should be rolled out over the next month or two.

We like direct, challenging, improvement-focused feedback, and we hear that we are supposed to be pretty responsive .. we try, but don’t always get everything done that everyone wants, but we DO strive to do the best we can, given only so many waking hous in the day, etc.

This feedback will get passed on directly to the development team.
