QotD: Over or Under?

Okay, we hate to ask, but… over the roll or under the roll?

Okay… so I really haven’t been paying much attention to the QotD lately but I’ve been seeing almost unanamous support for OVER the roll… which I would normally agree with. In almost all cases I would want the toilet paper to hang over the roll… except if it’s the roll right next to Little “L” as I’m trying ot get him to go on the potty. All he seems to want to do is bat the roll which sends the toilet paper streaming to the ground… that’s only cute for so long… My wife “T” and I have found that by loading the toilet paper backwards so that the paper hangs under it’s not as easy for him to make a mess…

So… until the boys grow out of it… UNDER. Afterwards, OVER, OVER, OVER.

  1. Thank you so much for clearing this up because I confess to having NO IDEA what that question even meant. Maybe I'm stupid, but who would have thought that was a QotD? I think that I don't do it consciously, but I'm perhaps over the roll?

  2. In college we had a cat that would unwind the paper, we kept the bathroom off limits….. cant do that with kids though…

  3. Julé: I wasn’t entirely sure of the question myself until saw some of my other neighbours’ answers… so, you’re welcome, but you should really thank my neighbours… and your lucky stars… and Little “L”… hell, thank MacGyver while you’re at it — he was cool. ;)KeyLimeTwist: You’re right… can’t do that with kids… no matter how hard you try… sometimes I have to give in just to help bribe Little “L” to stay on the potty long enough to give it a fair try… hope to have him out of diapers soon…

  4. OVER it must be! But I'll make an exception in your case. :-p

  5. Believe me I know… we still forget and hang it OVER — because that’s what we wouold normally do — only to have Little “L” remind us that UNDER is the way to go for now… the Universe will be back to normal soon… ;0)

  6. Kids find fun in all the things that we don't find fun anymore. I can remember a time when I loved rolling and unrolling toilet paper. I was young and imaginative. I'm not saying I'm boring now but I definitely know that playing with a toilet paper roll is not fun.MacGyver!!! I so love him. Richard Dean Anderson was by far the best choice for the roll and I will go to the grave saying that. :)Thanks for the comment. I really made me smile and realize that people do care to read what I have to say. Thanks for being a reader.

  7. Yeah… I remember loving to play with the rolls too but unfortunately these days the adult-who-has-to-pay-for-and-clean-up-said-toilet-paper kicks in… it becomes a little less entertaining and a bit more tiring these days…Ah well… sooner than I’d like, he’ll be out late partying with his friends and I’ll be beging for the simplisity if the days where he loved to play with the TP roll…

  8. Our kids have discovered the joy of kicking our seats in the car.. I remember it drove my Dad crazy for us to do it.. and now I know why…..

  9. I can totally see why you say under right now. That's probably the first reasonable explanation I saw for under the roll for this QotD. ^^

  10. KeyLimeTwist: Heh… Little “L” has started doing that too… thankfully he’s still a bit too short for it to be anything but cute… all in good time I guess. ;)Lauren: Yesterday, I discovered that UNDER is even better for this type of situation that I had originally thought… not only is it more difficult for Little “L” to unroll the toilet paper, it’s way easier to bat the roll to roll it back up… Saw my wife do it yesterday and whatever time it took Little “L” to unroll 2 m (6'), it only took Lady “T” to quick bats at the roll to put it all back… BRILLIANT.
