Less blog. More writing.

Well, I’ve been trying my darndest to post more often but, truth is, I’ve joined a creative writing group and I’m too slow a typist to keep up with those writing commitments and dazzle you all with my blogging prowess. Hard to believe, I know.

So, for the next little while, most of my posts will be shorter and more “hey, this is what just happened” as opposed to being anything profound. Not that my posts ever were.

So far, the writing group has only met once and it was a terrifying but amazing experience. It was the first time I had shared any of my creative writing with anyone who wasn’t married to me and therefore obligated to at least pat me on the head and say, “That’s nice dear”. I definitely felt like the kid of the group… the other two gentlemen already have hundreds of pages under their belts, and they have their shiitake together enough to be writing it in chronological order. I have written far fewer pages, and those pages I have completed jump all over the map. I wouldn’t normally see that as too much of an issue only, we’ve all agreed to share the events of our tales with each other in the sequence that the final readers would experience them. Awesome.

So — and that’s my third paragraph in a row starting with “so” — that being said, I plan on posting more frequently than I have of late but those posts will be less bloggy so I can focus more on my book.

Published or not, it’s a pretty exciting thing to take on. 🙂

so… I’ve started writing a book…

There’s a very good chance I’m completely off my rocker with this one but, there you have it, I’ve started writing a book. The thing that makes this move off-rocker for me is that I’ve never written… well, anything, really.

I am going to write this story because I love the idea and a [small] number of people have told me that they do too. I think my writing doubts are more because I really do think I have an amazing idea for a story but lack the necessary literary tools to put that idea into words. The right words anyway, whatever those may be. Perfect words that would allow others to experience the story as I see it in my own head.

There should be an app for that.
