Not a hurricane, per se, just a post-tropical storm with hurricane-strength winds…

Hurricane Post-tropical storm Noel has come and gone but, thankfully, all is well here.

Our power went out briefly overnight but returned before we woke up. Other than that, we went completely unscathed. My younger brother had his fence blown over and a metal door-frame wrap around his car. Some other places had trees knocked down, walls blown over or roofs ripped off. At the storm’s worst over 200,000 people and businesses in Nova Scotia (20%+) were without power — 50,000 are still without as of a few hours ago.

It would appear that we were very lucky. On top of that, Little “L” and Baby “X” slept through the entire thing — lightening storm and all.

  1. I cringe at the thought of all the Juan puns you guys are going to have to endure for the next few days. It's funny that the boys slept through it. I slept through Juan and had my window open all night long, with absolutely no idea what was going on. I must have slept like the dead or something. I got up in the morning, and was half-way out my door to go to school when my phone rang asking if I was alright and I was completely confused until I realized that ALL of the lights were off in my building and the hallways were pitch black… and then I looked outside and noticed that the entire line of trees behind my building were now gone. I wish I had been awake for it. 🙁 I missed all the drama. My roommate at the time said that our balcony door had been ripped open at least ten times during the night and our cat was going mental in the living room. I still can't believe I was completely clueless for the entire thing…

  2. I'm so glad you guys are okay and didn't suffer any property damage or any of that. (And that the boys slept through it!) We're so far inland we don't really suffer any major hurricane-type stuff aside from some occasional thunderstorms drifting our way from the coast.
Hope the sun is shining soon!
