Show us a logo you really love.
The WWF logo (no, not the World Wrestling Federation)…
Not only do I believe what this organization stands for, I LOOOOOOVE their logo. I think it’s a wonderful balance of positive and negative space — Oh. My. Yes. The negative space. It’s simply not that easy to create a logo that relies so heavily on negative space that reads as well as this one does.
Mother & Child, by Herb Lubalin…
What can I say… I know I posted this one before but I’m just blown away by it every time I see it. This Mother & Child was a logo for a magazine that has never been published. It was designed by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase in 1965. And remember, back then it would have been DRAWN BY HAND.
I love logo design.

Hmmm… I wonder if I should a “steelie’s Top Ten Logos” list.
Might be fun.
Nice choices! I was hoping this QotD might inspire you to post! I've never looked closely at the WWF logo but you're sooo right! Do you remember when the court case over the name of the then WWF (wrestling)? I'm glad the real WWF won although many still call the WWE the WWF (including a number of journalists who reported on the death of buddy-what's-his-name — the Cdn born wrestler who died recently). Get with the program, people!! Um, but why is this post on your blog twice?
Great choices. I remember the Mother & Child post you made a while ago, and that post really stuck with me. I like the fact that the design is so simple. It's one of those that I think, "Why didn't I think of that?" Thanks for posting it again, Steelie. ^_^
Semblance: Heh… yeah, I guess if any if the “Vox Hunt” topics were going to get me to post, this was the one. I do love these logos but now that I’ve posted then I’m seriously considering doing that “Top 10” list. There are soooo many yummy logos out there. And yeah, I do remember that case. I’m glad the real WWF won out too.Oh… I hit “Save” after I finished but realised I wanted to cross post over to LiveJournal too. So, I cancelled the save, checked the appropriate box and resaved. I’ll go delete that right after this.Lauren: Thanks! I have that logo in the back of my mind whenever I approach a new logo design. Not that I want to copy it, just that I want to channel it somehow. And you’re in luck, I’ll probably post it a third time when I get around to my “Top 10 Logos” list. ;^)
