My Wishlist…

Items listed in order of when they had popped into my head [Updated regularly]:

Powerballs: Neon Blue – Regular (x2)
Bowflex: Ultimate 2
Wacom Tablet: 6 x 8" Intuos 3 (GOT ONE! a 4×6") :OD
Urban Tool: Sport Holster (Yellow)

This is just a bit of a wishlist for myself. There have been a number of time that I've seen something I really liked or really needed but didn't have the money for it at the time, and forgotten what it was later. This post is just a way for me to keep track and will be updated when I find new things to lust after… as long as I don't forget what it was before before I post.

More to come…

Blogging doesn’t come easily…

Well, I've been trying to think of what to talk about in my next post but it's not coming to me easily… I am, overall, very new to blogging and find myself more interested in reading other peoples blogs than writing in my own. I've been contemplating the blogging scene for some time now but took forever to convince myself that anything I had to say was worth reading… maybe it's not.

A lot of people seem to pour their entire lives into their blogs… I admire that. I'm not ready to go there… yet… I haven't even included my full/actual name in my profile. I'm even reluctant to add people to my friend's list when I really don't have good reason… I'm not even sure where I planned on going with this entry. I guess I was hoping that posting period would spark something less empty and mediocre (which, ironically, is a favourite word of mine)…

Sigh… I'll come back when I feel less odd in my own skin…

A Parkour Poem…

Free Hands
by steelie

Now, here's a little story
about why I haven't been there.
It holds a little PK lesson,
which is why I thought I'd share.

This tale of absenteeism,
begins en route to work.
Between my car and office,
a certain trap did lurk.

I try to trace each morning
to keep the senses ready.
But on this faithful morning,
me, sadly, not so steady.

I ran along a three-foot wall
as many times before,
and when I reached the end
I jumped and tried to soar.

So, here began the problem with
the bag on my left shoulder,
the strap across my body,
the right hand gripped to hold 'er.

I landed, let's say, oddly,
and as gravity will tell,
I tried to save the ship my friends
but yup, I tripped and fell.

I've been here many times before
and dove and tucked and rolled.
Although I had full trust in me,
Right Hand would not un-hold.

So, onto my right shoulder
my weight came crashing down,
Right Hand could not prevent
the awful crunching sound.

And now I've missed three weeks,
I still might be a while.
Thankfully, nothing's broken
So I can't help but smile.

I learned a priceless lesson
to help my zig and zag,
Now when I practice Parkour,
I skip the shoulder-bag.

Yes, now I have a backpack,
I runs, I jumps, I lands.
Now here's the moral boys and girls:
"Free-runners need free hands".

:^)

I hope to be out again soon.
Save me a spot. Cheers.

I’m doing some testing here…

I’ve found a new “application” that allow you to post blog entries to “any” blog platform you might be using… It’s called Qumana!

Here’s my scenario…

I’m a Mac user and preferred browser is Safari. I use WordPress.com as my blog platform. Safari and WordPress.com don’t necessarily like each other. WordPress.com has a built-in WYSIWYG editor that places buttons along the top of your eventual blog entry which allow you to apply bold, italics, etc. formatting to any/all of your text on the fly… with no need to add (learn) HTML tags. [EDIT] These buttons do not appear in Safari which can make blog entries a bit trying.

Back to the software… I’ve got to say, so far, overall, I like it… quite a bit. It’s a tiny little application that does the job fairly well. It’s still in its BETA stages so it might be a bit buggy for you: for example, double-clicking a word does not guarantee you’ll be able to select it first try… it tends to take me a few tries on a regular basis. Plus, triple-clicking does not select an entire line as you might expect it to.

Also, the Mac versions keyboard shortcuts are not very Mac-like at all… like having to press Command + Arrow to jump from word to word. Or, having to press Function + Arrow to jump to the end of a line (Function? [I use an Apple PowerBook which gives me this lovely extra key that most other Mac users might not have… but still, Function?]).

All that aside and long story short (still a BETA remember), Qumana is an excellent little application with great potential. I will probably use this on a regular basis because, even though it’s buggy, it has been saving me pockets of time by not having to remember any HTML coding.

Check it out Qumana.com.
(By the way, I just made that link in mere seconds. I know, I know… not that big of a deal… unless you prefer Safari as much as I do but need you WYSIWYG).

Oh, and did I mention… It’s free.
